 The hymnist Elias Blix was born in Gildeskål in 1836 at the farm,”Våg”. He was baptised and confirmed in Gildeskål Old Church. He clearly left his mark on the country as a hymnist, scholar and churchman.Salten Museum provides opportunities for learning more about the hymn-writer both at the church and by visiting his birthplace on Sandhornøy on a guided tour.
